chapter 25

August 15th, 2009 Curtis 4 comments

It’s weird to think that I’m now 25.  Cliche as it sounds, it seems like just yesterday that I was graduating high school.  It seems like just last month I was graduating elementary school.  It seems like just last year I was walking into kindergarten for the time (I colored an apple.  Not gonna lie, it was a good time).  I know 25 isn’t old, but I think it’s funny that all through school and college I just wanted to be done and out in the real world.  In fact, I remember thinking when I was in first grade, “Seriously, I have 12 years of school?  That’s going to take forever!”  Now that I’m actually out in that real world with a real job and real problems and I just wish I could go back.  Life was easier then.  But how far back?  The end of college?  The end of high school?  Middle school?  How far back would I really need to go to make my life turn out differently.  We’ve all heard it asked. “If you could go back and do it again, would you?”  Yes, I would in a heartbeat.  Not that my life turned out badly.  But I know it could have turned out better.  There are definitely things I would change.  Is it wrong to have regrets?  In a sense I think it is.  As Christian’s we’re not to live in the past.  But then I think, “If I don’t have regrets… do I really have morals?”  … Whoa… I just got chills.  Anybody else?  Chills?  No?  Okay, moving on.

If you’ve been following my blog since it’s conception, you’ve no doubt read chapter 24.  The problem with chapter 24 was that it was written when I was only 23.  Now I’m writing chapter 25… and I am 25.  If you’ve done the math (carry the 1) you’ve already realized…I SKIPPED AN ENTIRE YEAR!  So here it is: Chapter 24 when I was actually 24.

When I was 24, I got my first college degree earned job.  I gambled for the first time.  I got my motorcycle license.  I took up golf.  I tried snowboarding.  I sucked at golf and snowboarding.  I got my heart broken.  I fell in love.  I started a business.  I got a puppy.  I moved into my first house.  I went parasailing.   And, I taught myself to cook.

I can’t so much complain about 24…. except that it’s gone.

More to come….

Couple Ordered to Stop Holding Bible Study at Home Without Permit – FOXNews.com

Couple Ordered to Stop Holding Bible Study at Home Without Permit – Local News | News Articles | National News | US News – FOXNews.com

Wow.  What is this country coming to?  The Pastor is absolutly right.  Our forefathers would be in shock to see that any sub-governing body of the United States is directly prosecuting a person for the free practice of their own religion.  Not to mention this is free practice in that person’s home.  Our nation was founded on the basis of free religion.  In fact, it was so important to this nation and it’s forefathers that it holds the first clause of the United States Bill of Rights:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;

The county in this article  is in direct violation of the United States Consititution, and I ask again.  What is this country coming to?  Where do we get off prosecuting people who live under the freedoms this nation was established with.  If we can’t back on our constitution, then what good is our government.  I mean, the only reason I can even write an article like this is because of what the very next line of that first amendment reads:

[Congress shall make no law]… abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;

I promise you if any person or organization were to attempt to bring back slavery, he or it would be crushed under Amendment 13 instantly.  However, because we’re dealing with religion, and more specifically, Christianity, it’s almost as if we forget why our country even became a country in the first place.  Time and time again we see Christians being persecuted within our own borders.  Kids are getting in trouble for praying or trying to hold religious functions in schools.  We hear arguments that something “violates the separation of church and state,” often from people who have no clue what that separation even means.  The idea was always to keep the government out of church.  It was never to keep the Church out of government.

This country is slipping down a dangerous slope by forgetting its foundation.  It’s something we as Christians need to be praying about.  I think too many times, we hear things like this couple being forced to cease their Bible studies, and we lose more and more hope for our nation.  I for one am standing firm… God wants to bless and he wants to revive… but he also wants us to believe in him for it.

God Bless America.

New Theme

It’s time once again for a new look on the blog.xtego.com.  I discovered the iNove wordpress theme about a month ago when I adopted it for the primary theme for my other blog: xtgo.net.  I very much liked it and I decided to use it here as well.  I realize that it is a fairly popular theme for wordpress, and I usually don’t like to conform to the world.  (That’s both Biblcal (Romans 12:2) and awesome, by the way.)  It’s the reason I set my alarm to 6:27 AM rather than 6:30 AM like the normal person would.  Anyway…. iNove is one of the most popular themes for wordpress on the interweb, but I’m keeping it for a while while banking on the fact that most people have never seen it before… who am I kidding, no one reads my blog.  :)

New Blog

I started a new blog: xtgo.net.  It’s merely a branch of my current blog.  I realize that most people don’t care to read about the techy stuff that I write about from time to time.  Additionaly, there are people who don’t care to read about… well… everything else.  So… in an attempt to be a bit more focused, blog.xtego.com will continue to be about personal stuff and will continue to be published to facebook.  Xtgo.net, on the other hand, will encompass all things techy.  So… if you’ve enjoyed my nerdiness in the past I invite you to check out my new blog.
