Why is there a light in the fridge and not in the freezer?

I’m looking for the best answer to that question.  If you think you’ve got it, leave a comment (You don’t need to sign up or anything… just post.)  Remember, it’s a profound question, it deserves a profound answer.

well, I think that your freezer is broken. Every freezer that I see and/or use have lights in them. But considering yours does not, I would only assume that it lacks a light because lights give off heat. And, why would you want to have heat in a freezer?!

your freezer is the model that came right after the ice box that actually had a large slab of ice, so you don’t have a light. everyone else who has a freezer built within the last century has a light. you on the other hand have to open the fridge and the freezer or just turn on the damn light in the kitchen.

Once again, easy answer. In this day and age, people are concerned with saving electricity. We all know that every time you open the refrigerator or the freezer, you lose the cold air and when the door is closed, the device needs to cool it back to the temperature that it needs to be at. Being that the freezer is kept colder, if it is open for the same amount of time as the fridge, it would lose cold air more rapidly, thus causing it to do more work to cool it back down once the door is shut again. By not having a light in the freezer, you save that extra little bit of energy. Then again, if you had a light you could find what you were looking for quicker, thus leaving the door open for a shorter amount of time, losing less cold air, and not causing the freezer to work as hard when the door is finally closed again, but that is a different matter. That was solved with the incorporation of a single light in the freezer and 2 lights in the fridge.

You seem to talk about all these freezers that have lights in them but I have never seen one.
